School terrorism

On September 5, 2017 in Ivanteevka near Moscow, a minor teenager opened fire on the territory of a local school. Alas, this is not the first such case of terror. In this issue we will talk about similar events that have occurred in the world in recent years.

April 20, 1999. Columbine School, USA. On this day, two high school students, Erik Harris and Dylan Klebold, using small arms and improvised explosive devices, wounded 37 people, 13 of whom died. After the deed, the attackers were shot. It is because of this incident that a heated debate began on the impact of video games on the psyche of adolescents and on tightening control over firearms. In addition, the police managed to find out that Eric suffered from depression and took anti-depressants, which are available in the US, including adolescents, and therefore could have a significant effect on the behavior of the killers.

April 16, 2007. Virginia Polytechnic Institute, USA. This tragedy occurred on the campus. A 23-year-old student named Cho Seung-he killed 32 people and another 25 were injured. The peculiarity of this case is that first he shot two people in a dormitory, and only two hours later he burst into the academic building, where he blocked the doors and started shooting students, after which he shot himself. According to the police, the young man acted alone and according to some sources, even before committing the killings, he published stories full of hatred for students and teachers.

December 14, 2012. Sandy Hook Elementary School, USA. The massacre committed by a 20-year-old young man named Adam Lanets and killing 20 children who were between 6 and 7 years old. Also, the killer dealt with his mother, six adult workers of this educational institution, after which he shot himself. In November 2013, a comprehensive report on this investigation was released. Unfortunately, the reasons for the explanatory act were not found, but at the same time, the report refers to obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression, which Adam suffered.

In conclusion, we would like to say that the Ivanteevsky shooter, judging by the study of his connections in social networks, was sympathetic to the previously mentioned Eric and Dylan who organized mass shooting in the year 99, as well as the radical representatives of our society such as the Tesak and other nationalists.
