Substance abuse. What can result from the glue sniffing?

Many adults and children in our country suffer from substance abuse and use glue, paint and other chemicals for pleasure. In this issue we will explain what this may lead to.

The most common substances for obtaining a narcotic effect are available in almost every store – these are household and industrial chemicals. Paints, varnishes, glue, various solvents, butane and many others are always in demand among substance abusers. If we talk about the effect after inhalation, then there may be a strong euphoria, clouding of consciousness and even powerful hallucinations. As you understand, all this can not pass without a trace for your body and often leads to health problems.

The most terrible consequence is hypoxia or simply lack of oxygen, which first leads to loss of consciousness, and then to death. However, most often there are lesions of the central nervous system, problems with brain activity, pneumonia and heart failure, not to mention the psychological dependence that occurs rather quickly in a drug addict. In addition, it is worth noting the presence of a huge list of chemicals in paints, varnishes and other liquids, the impact of which on the body is simply not studied by science.

The most popular way of poisoning is toluene, which serves as a solvent in the previously mentioned paint and varnish products and adhesives. It increases the production of dopamine, the neurotransmitter that is responsible for pleasure in our brain. At the same time, it can provoke attacks of aggression or vice versa, complete apathy. And with regular consumption is addictive, which in turn can lead you, for example, to dementia.

In conclusion, we would like to emphasize that substance abuse is the same acute problem as drug addiction. For example, according to statistics, more than 21 million Americans over the age of 12 have tried to inhale harmful fumes at least once in their lives, and glue and plastic bags are still extremely common on the streets of small cities in Russia. It is here from such a fascination that thousands of children end up in hospital with a diagnosis of organic brain damage.
